La Mer Kyle-Griffiths is a lifelong public defender and racial justice advocate whose career spans Kentucky, Massachusetts, Washington, Oklahoma, and California. She has served in capital, juvenile, and felony divisions, argued before the Kentucky Supreme Court, and led training initiatives for hundreds of defenders nationwide. A Certified Equity and Inclusion Facilitator, La Mer has designed and directed defender-training programs that center race, gender, and community in litigation strategy. She previously served as Director of Training and Complex Litigation at Still She Rises Tulsa and as an Assistant Public Defender in Santa Barbara County. A frequent faculty member for national defender programs—including the National Criminal Defense College, the Darrow Baldus Death Penalty College, and Harvard Law School’s Trial Advocacy Workshop—she also serves on the Executive Board of NAPD and the Board of the National Criminal Defense College.
